About 90% of shoes in the United States currently are imported from China.
And guess what? A recent article from the National Labor Committee found that us Americans are paying a hefty sum more than what they actually cost to make,
“To calculate standard shoe markups, “take the retail cost and work backwards through the supply chain. If the shoe retails for $100, it cost the retailer 50 percent or less than that to buy it from the distributor. That same shoe cost the distributor 50 percent or less of that price” to acquire from the manufacturer. Generally, it cost the manufacturer 50 percent less than that to produce — in other words, $12.50.”
I’m mean I’m not exactly a “shoe addict,” but shoes are an item we really can not go without. Here a few options I’ve recently stumbled upon.
Umm hai-

Novacas supplies these. It is a great company that only releases two lines a year. All products are made in Portugal under European labor standards. Animal product free made products by humans under worker-friendly conditions…I’m into it.

Hi, I just wanted people to know that the quality of Novacas shoes is terrible. I purchased a pair of women’s boots and they didn’t even last 3 months. First the heels fell off and then the lining tore wide open. Save your $$$$

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, but one can’t deny the positivity in a brand that only sells vegan shoes! You should call the company and see if you can send your purchase back
